Specifically, components related to the understanding of electrical fundamentals as a prerequisite for diagnosing and repairing major appliances, HVAC equipment, swimming pool pumps, electrical motors, and defective circuits in a home or apartment.

Specifically, job assignments related to the anatomy of equipment, component test and evaluation, schematic wiring diagram interpretation, diagnosing and repair procedures, planned maintenance activities, health and safety inspections, etc.

More specifically, skills related to HVAC Maintenance, General Plumbing Maintenance, General Wiring Maintenance, Interior/Exterior Building Maintenance, and Appliance Repair.

Specifically, components related to the anatomy of maintaining grounds and landscape items; procedures for maintaining outdoor amenities such as basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, and children’s play areas; procedures for repairing exterior components; and procedures for repairing interior components.

This assessment measures the student’s knowledge and technical skills necessary to complete job assignments related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components. Specifically, components related to the anatomy of a plumbing system; different types of pipes; repairs at kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets; water heater repairs; water softeners & treatment; recirculating pumps & sump pumps; drain cleaning techniques; winterizing plumbing components. etc.

The Swimming Pool and Spa Maintenance program is designed to help students develop technical knowledge and skills related to the operation and repair of pool and spa equipment. Students will develop skills in pool and spa codes, pool opening and closing, pool management, spa management, and furniture maintenance. Also, students will learn details about safe operations of pools and spas, statistics, filtration, recirculation equipment, chemical treatment, water analysis, supplies, and accessories.

This program is designed to help students understand carbon monoxide poisoning. Specifically, it covers how carbon monoxide is produced, its atomic structure, sources and potential problem areas in the home, and symptoms if inhaled. CO detectors are also covered, along with testing procedures and the acceptable levels of carbon monoxide in the air.

This program discusses the health risks for smokers, the effects secondhand smoke has on non-smokers, and cleaning suggestions which will help to reduce the amount of nicotine build-up and pollutants that linger in a residence after a cigarette has been put out. As part of the Indoor Air Quality cluster, this section is designed for those who either smoke or know someone who does and whose responsibility it is to clean and try to reduce the effects that smoking has on a residential environment.

As part of the Indoor Air Quality cluster, this workshop discusses radon, its origins, health risks and symptoms associated with exposure, types of exposure, sources of radon, detection and tesing procedures, acceptable levels for a dwelling and the mitigation process.
